Your Friday factory-game roundup from The Assembly Line. 2-minute read.

📦 Patch Notes & News

Belts of Iron lands in Early Access May 28. Builderment LLC just announced their next factory game, and it is swinging for the fences: procedural worlds across 9 biomes, miles-long rail networks, hostile enemies, and 4-player co-op. At $14.99, it is positioned as a more open-ended, survival-flavored take on the genre. Worth watchlisting before launch day.

Satisfactory 1.2.2.1 hotfix hits Experimental today. Coffee Stain pushed a quick stability patch fixing the locomotive-dismantle crash, the rain-occlusion crash, missing FICSIT Material in the build menu, and the vehicle out-of-bounds softlock. If you have been waiting for stable Experimental before diving back in, this is a good week to check.

💡 Quick Tip of the Week

Factorio: Shift+left-click an item to filter inserters and splitters in one move. When you are staring at a smelting array and need that one inserter to grab only iron plates, do not open menus. Hover the inserter, hit Shift+left-click on the iron plate icon in your inventory, and it is filtered. The same trick works on splitters for output filtering. Two seconds versus twenty, and you will start designing differently once it becomes muscle memory.

🎮 Manu Idle Corner

The hardest part of building an idle game is not the math — it is deciding which numbers the player is allowed to see. Show too few and the loop feels mysterious in a bad way; show too many and you are staring at a spreadsheet, not a game. Manu Idle leans toward “show the math when the player asks, not before,” which is something I went deep on in The Math Behind Idle Games (https://manugames.com/blog/idle-game-math).

🗛️ Poll of the Week

What is your most embarrassing factory mistake? Hit reply and tell us. (Starter pack: built belts in a perfect circle that never connected to anything, set inserter direction backwards on 40 furnaces, forgot fuel in coal generators for a 3-hour session.) The best one gets featured next week.

🎮 What We Are Playing

Splitting time between Mindustry v8 (the campaign overhaul finally landed last month and it is honestly a different game) and a quiet Captain of Industry save where the Update 4.1 train auto-dispatch is finally doing what I tell it to.
